Welcome to our class site.
October 13, 2011
Dear parents and guardians in Ms. Hopkins and Ms Forgies classes,
This letter is to inform you of some changes that will be in effect on Monday, October 17, 2011. YRDSB most recently granted additional staffing to address large class sizes at our school and at several schools throughout the board. The board has carefully monitored class sizes since the start of the school year. To address our large class sizes in the junior division, the board has allocated us an additional teacher for this school year. I am pleased to announce that Ms Forgie has been given a contractual position and will remain in the grade 4/5 gifted class for the remainder of the school year. She was previously hired as a Long Term Occasional teacher while another staff was on a leave of absence. Barring an early return of leave, Ms. Forgie will continue to be the grade 4/5 teacher. We are thrilled to be able to offer her a contract as her skill set, collaborative efforts, dedication and positive attitude are all attributes that YRDSB strives for in selection of contractual teachers. Congratulations Ms. Forgie!
Likewise, Ms. Hopkins who excels in all areas of programming, planning and assessment has also been awarded a contract position;
however her contract position is at a different location. We are thrilled for Ms. Hopkins as she is most deserving of a permanent position within YRDSB. Congratulations Ms. Hopkins, we will miss you at Aurora Senior P.S., but also wish you the very best as you start your permanent career at Sharon P.S.
This means that we are in the process of hiring a new Long Term Occasional Teacher for the 5/6 gifted class. We are seeking a candidate with experience in the areas of programming, planning and communication the same qualities that Ms. Hopkins possesses. Since Ms. Hopkins begins her permanent position on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Sharon P.S., we will have a supply teacher in until an occasional teacher has been hired. Please know that Ms. Hopkins professionalism continues as she plans to work collaboratively with the new hire to ensure a smooth transition for the students within the 5/6 class.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me @ [email protected] or 905-727-9751.
Sincerely,
Jodi Sepkowski, Principal
